powell endorses obama. which begs the question ...

We're now 14 days, a mere two weeks, from Election Day.

And two days ago, former Joint Chief of the General Staff, former Secretary of State, and (from all accounts) all around decent guy Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for President.

Mr. Obama proudly accepted his endorsement, and has begun highlighting it, both on the campaign and on his website.

(And predictably, OMSNBC, OCNN, OKC Star, you name it, has breathlessly reported on what this endorsement means, that it shows even the alleged best and the brightest of the military see Barry is qualified!)

Certainly Mr. Powell is entitled to endorse who he wants. And honestly, most of Mr. Obama's endorsements, I could care less about. Pretty much everyone behind Barry is either certifiably nuts, or well on their way to the designation. (Save for Hillary, who has no choice if she wants a future in this doomed party ...)

But this one? This endorsement? I just have one little problem with this. And I'm still waiting for anyone in the "mainstream Obama media" to note this.

What was the primary issue Mr. Obama used to separate himself from everyone else in the primaries? And continues to use to separate himself from Mr. McCain?

Iraq, right?

I think we can all agree on this, right? Whether you're like me and cannot stomach the thought of Mr. Obama in the White House, or whether you fear another 4 years of Republican rule more than taking a chance on Mr. Obama, both sides I think can agree that Iraq is the key dividing issue between Mr. Obama and his opponents.

(done and done).

Having noted and agreed upon that, tell me this:

Who the hell led the charge for invading Iraq? Who went before the Senate armed with mountains of evidence of Iraq's WMDs and the need to attack now? Who went before the UN, in a famous late 2002 speech, and warned of the grave consequences if the world sat by and did nothing?

Who was the man that sold the war to our elected officials, the nation, even the world? Who was the face behind the war push?

Colin Powell.

So let me see if I understand this. Barry's number one key issue, key reason for running for President, is to end a war ... that Colin Powell is directly responsible for starting.

Barry is "proud" to accept the endorsement of "this experienced military leader, a general, someone who is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was Secretary of State ...", and who, as Secretary of State, pushed for, got us into, and then oversaw the disaster that was Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Barry wants as his military adviser ... the man who directly got us into the mess in Iraq in the first place.

(col. hannibal smith voice) Nice BA. Nice ...

That's the "change we need"! That's "shaking up the establishment"!

Barry using Colin Powell's endorsement to highlight, to show his competence for command. How's that for irony ...

(steve voice) you have to be a dog, cat, or a corpse in Cook County, or mentally retarded, to vote for Obama / Biden. Or a rodent; I hear Barry's ACORN fellas have registered a few mice lately ...
